Patras Carnival is the largest event of its kind in Greece, but also one of the largest carnivals in participants numbers in the world!

The first coroful shot informs us about the Carnival on March 4, 1979 and then we see a large wild monkey wearing a sign with the word EOT (Greek Tourism Organisation) around its neck.

We are in the heart of Patras and of the carnival. In Georgios the 1st Square on Sunday, for the grand Parade. Lots of people, carnival people and floats are waiting for the start of the big festival. Footage of people who are gathering on the sidewalks to see the big spectacle. Floats go back and forth, a policeman blows his nose into a handkerchief, a big crowd on Korinthou Street of people who are going to the square.

Views from above of the Trion Symmachon Square with the famous flower clock, crowded people, cars, some small floats and in a distance the port and the pier. A large group with bats in their hands walks with... wild intentions!

And we see the beginning of the big parade with the band of the municipality and a big float that is following. Then, a distinctive float of 1979: the fallen aristocrat. Also a float for the children to be conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF) and finally the flower-decorated float with the queen of the carnival.
