Description
Just outside of Chania, at the church of Prophet Elias, are the tombs of Eleftherios Venizelos and his son Sophocles.
Eleftherios Venizelos (1864-1936) was a Greek politician who served seven times as Prime Minister of Greece. His son Sophocles Venizelos (1894-1964) also served as Prime Minister of Greece for short periods in the mid-20th century.
In the film we see the pine forest that surrounds the landscape, the Greek flag that waves over the marble monument and the panoramic view of the city of Chania making this site one of the main attractions of the city.
